SellanApp LIVE was again exciting!
What a day! Thursday we had our second SellanApp LIVE event. Students from the University of Amsterdam were able to push their app ideas forward all day. We invited professionals to help them create an effective concept with our iPad app. This allowed them to quickly and efficiently make a working mock up of their app idea. At the end of the day they could pitch their ideas to a professional jury consisting of people from uber.com, 22tracks, Whizzcraft and Stichting Doen.

Everyone that joined us at SellanApp LIVE is a true winner. The opportunity to conceive your app idea in a creative and inspirational environment with skilled professionals, no wonder everyone was pumped after thursday!
Judges are important for a sense of context and relevance. In the end however, the crowd decides whether an app idea gets funded or not. It’s just an opinion that the judges express.The judges decided that these apps needed to win:
- Workabroad: Lisa en Nadide thought of an app idea for backpackers to easily find work abroad and stay a little bit longer in the country they love.
- Track my Pet: Sarah, Isabel en Roos want to track down their pets when they get lost and have some fun by knowing where their pets go.
- Localise: Maarten en Ismay thought of a unique way of matching travellers with locals to share experiences.
These and other app ideas are coming on the platform shortly, the other producers that joined are also getting the green light to join our platform and get their app ideas funded.

First SellanApp LIVE event was a great success!
SellanApp wants to transform your passionate app ideas into actual mobile applications. You all know we’re building an online crowdsourcing and crowdfunding platform to bring your ideas to life hand help you to go from doodle to business. We want to bring awesome people to our platform to make even more awesome app ideas happen. With this in mind we came up with the SellanApp LIVE format. A great get together where we organize our online experience in real llfe!
A friend of mine always says: “Always invite people that are cooler than you.” So we did. SellanApp LIVE is an event to bring ‘Producers’ with great app ideas literarily in touch with ‘Wizards who will help the producers visualize, conceptualize and design their app idea.
At the end of the day the producers are pitching their ideas to the ‘Investors’ to receive feedback, professional help and maybe some starting funds. The best app ideas get rewards from SellanApp to help accomplish and develop their apps on our platform. It’s that simple. Actually, that’s exactly how our online platform works.
Schools, organizations, associations and foundations provide enthusiastic people to participate in these workshop events we’re planning to organize around the world. Do you like to organize one? Do not hesitate and contact us!
We’re intensely proud to say our first SellanApp LIVE event was a great success. ‘Off-Screen’, the study association of the culture & media bachelor by University of Amsterdam, has organized this great day of productivity and inspiration. SellanApp invited a great bunch of wizards and investors who were all very helpful and happy to experience a live event like this.
After 9 hours of brainstorming, making choices and pitching, all producers, wizards and investors were stoked and excited about the results. The investors made choose their favorite app ideas based on originality, the business model, and if they would invest in it.
Out of the 13 app teams there were 4 winners. The winners are rewarded a private beta account and USD$1000 to get started on our platform. Also we will provide professional coaching up to go from doodle to business.

We’re planning to go live for our beta testers the first quarter of 2012. There’s still some fine tuning needed on the platform to make the User Experience for you as great as possible. Please hold on a little longer because we’d love make your apps a reality!

SellanApp on ‘Capital on Stage’ and Symbid
We are still recovering from Capital on Stage yesterday. What a day! Let’s recap: We talked to six potential investors and chit chatted with almost every colleague start-up at the conference. Sore throats were healed with drinks at the end of the day and even more great conversations with fellow attendees. Seemed like there was not enough time to talk to all these starting companies sharing the same passion for entrepreneurship in general.
Did we mention we launched on Symbid simultaneously with our presentation on COS? For all of you who don’t know what Symbid is: “Symbid is the first “equity-based” online investment platform that enables individuals to directly invest in start-ups or existing ventures in exchange for an equity stake in the company!” Sounds a bit like SellanApp doesn’t it?
With five subscribers on the first day we couldn’t be happier. With a total amount of 50,760 euro we already earned 34 percent of the funding we need to get SellanApp up and running. You can invest too! From as low as 20 Euros you can earn a share in SellanApp. Take a look and participate!
