An exciting week!
Dear Friends of SellanApp,
It’s has been a really exciting week here at SellanApp.
We’re thrilled that already over $30.000 has been pledged towards App Ideas brought forward by creative people like you. And… we’re excited to see our pipeline filled with many great ideas soon to be published on SellanApp. We think they’ll get their funding, just like StudyPic did.
Five Apps are now in development, and we have 6 crowd funding campaigns running on our platform.
Last but not least, 16 developers are now connected to SellanApp with more developers currently under review.
“Phew… We think that’s just cool being live for just a few months” :-)
Also we recently saw the launch of the Ketel App Idea. This app idea was crafted by a whole team of creative people and not a single individual. We are excited to see SellanApp proves to be a solution for this collective of awe-inspiring people.
Well, we are cooking up some some very cool things here… Watch this space…!
We have a wonderful update from all of us here at SellanApp….
The first app has been successfully funded and selected for development by one of our trusted developers!
This has been a great first milestone for us and we are already excited to see the finished product. Very soon ‘Studybuddy’ will be available for you to download from the App store. You can add yourself to the waiting list to be notified when it is live by popping over to the site.
Not only that, but we added over a 1000 users since we launched into Public Beta just two weeks ago which is incredible.
Who’s App Idea will be next? Download our free iPad app and get going!
Let’s keep changing the way app ideas get made!
A recent study discovered that 66% of people between the ages of 18 and 29 in the United States own a smartphone, and smartphone usage among adults is up 10% year-over-year. However, the number jumps to 68% for people living with household incomes of $75,000 or higher.
Political campaigns, like any organisation or business want to gain supporters, as many as they possibly can. Therefore both the Obama and Romney camps have taken note of these statistics and made sure their digital strategies reflect the growing trend that is mobile.
Mitt Romney’s team published an iPhone app that allows people to take photos of events, add pro-Romney banners and easily post the images to Twitter and Facebook. Much like a political version of Instagram but instead of filters you are provided with different pro-Romney filters. The app infamously misspelled America as “Amercia” which quickly made it viral. Despite a few hick ups, the app was very popular. It had 200,000 downloads within the first 48 hours, and hundreds of thousands thereafter. Romney’s other two apps offer information about the candidates, their events, as well as ways to share content and order tickets to see the candidates speak.
The Obama campaign created a Dashboard tool. The Dashboard is an engaging digital desk for supporters and volunteers, where they can search through options for getting involved with the campaign. The tool amalgamates online and offline data, integrates existing social networks and localises information and events according to the user’s geographical area.
The team also published the Obama for America app. It provides information to supporters regarding the president’s policies, news, events, community activities, volunteer opportunities and information on how to register to vote.
Mobile applications have been become a ubiquitous phenomenon and are slowly replacing traditional websites and applications. They can be used on the go and therefore are a much more interactive experience. This article also demonstrates that apps can be used for a huge range of purposes.
Got an app idea? Get on our platform and make it happen. Alternatively pop on there, pledge, share and get involved!
We talked about this earlier, brands investing in apps. We think this is a great use case of a brand to act on a great idea to support their (potential) customers. We believe every brand can be ‘sexy’ and supportive for a community of people.
First SellanApp LIVE event was a great success!
SellanApp wants to transform your passionate app ideas into actual mobile applications. You all know we’re building an online crowdsourcing and crowdfunding platform to bring your ideas to life hand help you to go from doodle to business. We want to bring awesome people to our platform to make even more awesome app ideas happen. With this in mind we came up with the SellanApp LIVE format. A great get together where we organize our online experience in real llfe!
A friend of mine always says: “Always invite people that are cooler than you.” So we did. SellanApp LIVE is an event to bring ‘Producers’ with great app ideas literarily in touch with ‘Wizards who will help the producers visualize, conceptualize and design their app idea.
At the end of the day the producers are pitching their ideas to the ‘Investors’ to receive feedback, professional help and maybe some starting funds. The best app ideas get rewards from SellanApp to help accomplish and develop their apps on our platform. It’s that simple. Actually, that’s exactly how our online platform works.
Schools, organizations, associations and foundations provide enthusiastic people to participate in these workshop events we’re planning to organize around the world. Do you like to organize one? Do not hesitate and contact us!
Out of the 13 app teams there were 4 winners. The winners are rewarded a private beta account and USD$1000 to get started on our platform. Also we will provide professional coaching up to go from doodle to business.
We’re planning to go live for our beta testers the first quarter of 2012. There’s still some fine tuning needed on the platform to make the User Experience for you as great as possible. Please hold on a little longer because we’d love make your apps a reality!
Acts not ads
Don’t you like being around people with an urge to do what they love? Following their passion? They have this idea in mind and are doing everything they can to make it a success. Moving heaven and earth. That is genuine entrepreneurship I guess. I believe that that is the only way you can convince and motivate other people to start a journey with you. The road to a great product, service or event.
Companies should act on the same base when building their brand and community. Their goal should be to start motivating people for the cause of why they exist, instead of just making a profit by selling products. Make a change and people will remember you by what you did.
A firm believer of this idea is Polle de Maagt. His urge of world domination consist of convincing companies to be more about acts than ads. “Because in these times, brands aren’t defined by what they say, but what they do.” he declares.
His believes are pretty infectious and that’s why he has big companies like KLM and Nike to working with him. I love his way of thinking.
With SellanApp there are a lot of opportunities for companies to ignite authenticity for their brands. I’ll try to clarify. People without resources or skills to build apps themselves often have great app ideas. At SellanApp, we call them producers. SellanApp offers them the possibility to fully design and fund these ideas. And herein lies an opportunity for businesses.
As a company you can become an investor in the apps of Producers, and receive a share in the revenue plus additional benefits. You could fund the app and invest in apps that distinguish you as a company. For example an internet skateboard shop or manufacturer could invest in a skateboard app. I think investments could be money, but also content and time. You can bring that in front of your marketing as a sponsor or-partnership. So your investment is well spend because you even share the success of the app.
The additional benefits that you receive are part of the ‘bigger plan’ of the app producer. They can offer partnership to support the apps cause. For example, your company has useful content and/or knowledge that is worthy for an app. Another example is that you can spread the word and make the app a success together. On Kickstarter.com you have great examples how producers of good ideas make rewards for companies and people.
As a partner of an app Producer, you can help bring their idea to life, you can publish and spread the app and by that brand your business when the app becomes successful. Making great ideas happen is what I think a great way to grow your brand within the right target groups. The SellanApp platform gives you the chance to communicate with these entrepreneurs (producers) and the supporting community.
At SellanApp we’re at the dawn of building a fun, social and efficient way for people and businesses to jump in to the world of apps. If you like, you can join in for a partnership and supports our cause at Symbid.
In my next blogposts I will tell more about businesses making their own apps with the community.
